Product Description

This Extra Virgin Olive Oil is pressed from a select spring harvest of Mission Variety Olives. Since the olives are extremely ripe when pressed, this unique olive oil has a delicate buttery sweet flavor. It is ideal on bread and in the making of all types of pastries. This is a favorite of Joseph Sciabica, who along with his father Nicola, founded our company in 1936.

Pie Crust Pastry
Found on page 92-93 in Gemma Sciabica's Baking
Sensational Sweets with California Olive Oil cookbook.
(Makes 1 single crust)

¼ cup almond flour
1-1/2 cups flour
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup white wine or milk
½ cup Sciabica's Mission Variety Limited Release
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg white (or yolk)

In mixing bowl combine dry ingredients, make well in center. Add remaining ingredients, stir until dough holds together.
Gather dough into a ball, flatten slightly, cover, let rest about 15 minutes.
Roll dough out on lightly floured board or between 2 pieces of waxed paper, to about 12 inch round.
Each roled out dough into a 9 or 10 inch pie plate, trim edges and flute.
Use tines of fork to pinch bottom and sides at ½ inch intervals. This helps prevent bubbles from forming in the crust.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown, cool. Fill crust with your favorite filling.

  1. Top of the line for olive oil

Posted by Richard on 26th Feb 2010

Many years ago we saw this olive oil advertised on one of the food networks and decided to try it. I have to agree with Mr. Sciabica this is the best of all the oils. The flavor is so light and fresh that we use it for almost every thing in the kitchen where oils are used. We have given it to our grown children and they too agree that it is the best olive oil they have ever used. We plan to continue using it for many years to come so please don't ever discontinue it.

  2. Forget Butter!

Posted by Ben on 29th May 2009

I haven't bought butter since I started getting this oil! It gives cakes and cookies a lighter taste and lets the true flavors of fresh veggies come out in sauteing. Not to mention it takes much less oil than butter for cooking.

  3. Like Butter

Posted by Cajunqn on 27th May 2009

I tried this on popcorn and it was delicious. I didn't order a big enough bottle so I have to be a little conservative with it until I order the larger one.

  4. Deliciously complementary with any recipe.

This oil will work well, even in dessert recipes without overtaking flavors. I used it in banana bread instead of butter. It turned out great!!

  6. Buy filtered or unfiltered.

    Posted by Z on 8th Aug 2008

I purchased two bottles of oil over the phone. Thier website was down for upgrades. They charged me for unfiltered oil, even the bottles said unfiltred, however the oil was filtered. Not happy with the service. The oil was good though .

SCIABICA RESPONSE: (This review was intended for our Unfiltered Mission Spring Harvest) Unfiltered Olive Oil will "settle out" over time. After the first few months out of the press, it may appear relatively "clear". I am sorry that you were not 100% satisfied. Please contact us to utilize our 100% Satisfaction, Money Back Guarantee. I'm glad you still liked the olive oil :)

  7. The Greatest Olive Oil I have ever used.

Posted by Larry on 8th Aug 2008

I have tried olive oils from all over the world. This is by far the finest I have found. And it is right here in the USA.

  8. Better Than Butter

Posted by Steve on 8th Aug 2008

I like the fruitier oils for salads, but for cooking this is the one. I may never use butter again

  9. Excellent Oil

Posted by Chris Schmidt on 8th Aug 2008

I buy this by the gallon, and it keeps well - I use about 1 gallon in 6 months.

The flavor is excellent and my family uses it for everything from salad dressing, dipping to cooking. It's my favorite and recommend it to anybody.

  10. Best taste ever & healthy.

Posted by Jan on 8th Aug 2008

This is the most fabulous olive oil I have ever tasted. I use it for everything! My husband has heart trouble and is on a low fat diet, but he can have this healthy olive oil. We can eat quite normally with this olive
