This is our original label dating back to 1936, and is named after the town in Sicily in which Nick Sciabica learned the ancient art of olive oil production. A special varietal combination prepared by Nick Sciabica & Sons, this oil has a balanced fruitiness as it is a combination of California grown varieties. Marsala is designed to be a general purpose Olive Oil and is excellent for all applications.

WHY IS MARSALA MORE AFFORDABLE?
Unlike Sciabica's Olive Oils, Marsala is not a single varietal. In fact, it is a combination of our Sciabica's Varietal Olive Oils. At the end of our production season we decide how much olive oil we will need for our Sciabica's line, then create a varietal combination for Marsala. This means that the combination of olive oils can change from year to year, especially during heavy or short crop cycles. This flexibility allows us to offer Marsala at a more affordable price point, even though it's the same quality as all of our 100% California Extra Virgin Olive Oils!

TO OUR VALUED 3 LITER CUSTOMERS
The decision to eliminate the 3 liter was not easy. However, we have found that most of our 3 liter customers were taking much too long to use their olive oil. We always want our olive oil to taste fresh, and recommend that you use it within 3 months after opening. If it was taking you much longer, then the 1 liter will be a perfect product. Also, we like to encourage variety. The Marsala is a wonderful olive oil, yet we would like to see you finish your dish, make a salad dressing or dip bread with a Sciabica's Varietal or Flavored Olive oil. The 3 liter often made having a second or third bottle in your kitchen impossible when trying to use the 3 liter quickly.

    This is by far the best olive oil to use daily. It works well in place of butter on your morning toast. Great for sauted vegetables. Makes great bread and biscuits. It is nice to have enough so that I don't run out.

    The previous reviewer was correct in that it is not the "best" Sciabica oil, but it is by far better than anything you can get on a grocery store shelf. And very economical, too.I use it for everything, including baking bread.

    I received this oil for Christmas and have used it in both savory and dessert dishes. The color is a bright canary yellow and fully filtered. The taste is a sweet avocado with smooth, no pepper finish. The label does not indicate a born date or expiry date, so it is hard to know its freshness. Interestingly, the label has a recipe for apple pie cake using no butter. Good for the ticker. A fine oil, but I wonder which of Sciabica's oils are a level up in quality. Also, there is no indication about organic status so I assume that it is not. Look forward to tasting some of the other lines of Sciabica. Ciao.

    SCIABICA RESPONSE:
    Our Marsala Olive Oil is a great choice for all-purpose use in larger quantities. It is not intended to be the freshest, or most flavorful, but is most likely the best "bang for your buck" on the market today (especially in the 3 liter). There is no set expiration for our olive oil if stored properly. The rule is: if it tastes good, it is good.

    If it's the "best of the best" that you're interested in, you've got to try our Sevillano Fall Unfiltered Fresh Pressed. It's full fresh flavor, artichoke aroma and smooth finish, makes it our most award winning olive oil.
