Lavender Scones
2 cups flour
1/2 cup flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
grated peel of 1 orange (optional)
1/3 cup Mission Spring Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 pumps Lavender Extra VirginOlive Oil
2 eggs (or 4 egg whites)
1 egg white slightly beaten (to brush tops)
1/2 cup dates, chopped (any dried or candied fruit may be used)
In a mixing bowl, sift in dry ingredients; make well in center. Add eggs and olive oil; stir just until dough holds together. Add dates, then place on a lightly floured board. Pat dough down to about 2/3 inch thick. Cut into rounds with a 2 inch fluted cookie cutter. Dip cutter in flour each time keep dough from sticking. Place on a greased (or parchment lined) cookie sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg white.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes until golden. Cool on a wire rack; serve warm.
Note: Dough may be patted down into a 7 inch round, then cut into 8 wedges.
You can actually turn any scone recipe or commercial scone mix into lavender scones by adding a few pumps of Sciabica's Lavender Olive Oil to the dough before baking. Glazing the scones with a simple confectioners' sugar frosting with a few drops of the lavender oil added enhances the flavor as well. The recipe I have used in the past is in Gemma Sciabica's cookbook Treasured Family Recipes. It is called Date Scones, but any dried or candied fruit can be used. I used dried cranberries when I made these with the lavender oil. Here is the recipe. Enjoy!

Amazing for ichthyosis!!!

I have a mild case of ichthyosis and have tried absolutely everything for my scalp. This oil has worked like magic for my skin and curly hair. I will be posting on every major ichthyosis site to recommend to others. It moisturizers the scalp, decreases frizz, and its aroma is lightly splendid.

I have been using this on my skin for atleast 8 years and I really see a difference in the texture of my skin. Smooth and soft to the touch. I started using this oil before your started adding the lavender. I do like it better with the hint of lavender.

As somebody below wrote, I ran out of all my expensive face products... Had some Lavendar Olive Oil that Joseph sent me a few years ago. Read some of the reviews awhile ago and decided to give it a try. I am a convert! So far I have just used it on my face... I will get a bigger bottle the next time and put it on my hands and feet!

So excited about your Lavender Olive Oil. I put it on 2 times a day. I seriously have had compliments about how soft my skin is. I am 56 years old. One more story to brag about; I went to Hannah's Bakery today. I met my 27 year old daughter there. They noticed that my 'friend' arrived and asked what would we like. I beamed, I responded that beautiful lady is my daughter. Both clerks, probably being comforting, but said 'no way!' The Olive Oil is fabulous!

Lavender EVOO is wonderful. The light lavender aroma is perfect. I've been using it before bed for just a few weeks on my hands, forearms, and the dry parts of my face. The improvement is dramatic. My alligator skin forearms are much improved. My hands so soft and even the cuticles are better. I was a bit leery of using it on my face because I don't have a particularly dry face - just a bit around my eyes and laugh lines. I worried that my face would feel greasy. No worries though. The oil just fades in and the softness is noticeable.
Will be ordering this again - and will buy it as gifts for others. I bet they come back to buy their own. Thank you for making this and for the clever bottle design that delivers just the right amount.

I am a 58-year old woman who has battled various complexion problems my entire life. But a month ago, I began using Sciabica's Lavender Olive Oil on my face and I cannot believe the change in my complexion! For the first time in many years, my face feels like it's getting the moisturizing it needs...yet there's no oily residue! And as a previous reviewer also experienced, my adult acne breakouts are virtually gone. If - several months ago - someone would have told me that my skin would actually improve with the use of olive oil, I would never, ever have believed them. I'm a believer now!

I started using Lavender Oil on my face at night when I ran out of my night time moisturizer. After awhile I ran out of my sculpting cream, my rejeuvenating cream, my eye cream, my anti-wrinkle cream, my daytime moisturizer - and I found I don't need to replace them. All I use is two pumps of Lavender Oil at night, and 1 in the morning. My skin feels and looks great, and I'm not spending a ton of money on products that aren't as effective. Got more room in the cabinet too! I guess I'll have to buy another bottle for the kitchen, because the one I have is staying in the bathroom. Now all I need is a smaller "travel" size that will easily fit in a quart-size zip lock bag.

I recently received this as a gift and now find myself ordering three more bottles. I have not used it in cooking, but instead have been using it on my skin. I love it! What a difference it seems to be making on what used to be my dry skin. Definitely can tell the difference. I now have a glow to my skin tone.

This Christmas I was making candy with friends, an annual event, and decided to see what I could come up with using your Lavender Olive Oil. I added white chocolate and 6 squirts of the oil to a standard caramel recipe and it was a big success. Thank you once again for amazing products.

I received the Lavender oil from a friend recently (Louise Brescia) and have used it:
1. To soften my 4 yr old's cradle cap. It worked so well AND smelled wonderful.
2. As a moisturizer fr my cuticles. In the winter my hands and cuticles get SO dry and this oil has done wonders for them!

I do love my Lavender Oil. The quality is superb.
I love to use it in the summer on my arms & shoulders for that shimmering glow that just lotion alone can't give.
I also use it on my face at night... Addicting!

Over the years, I have experienced extremely dry and discolored skin on my legs which has not improved with any over-the-counter or prescription medications. After trying the Lavender Oil for a couple days, however, my dry skin cleared up entirely. I am very happy to have finally found something that works after all this time! Plus it smells great!

I ordered it for the first time about 2 months ago. I love all the olive oils I get from Sciabica's so I decided to try the Lavendar Oil. I have very dry legs that flake after a long day in knee highs. NO MORE flaky legs. I plan to order some for friends for Christmas presents.

I first bought this during a visit to Sciabica's last September and have been using it day and night as a face moisturizer ever since. It makes my skin look beautiful! It is lightweight, not at all greasy, and is great under the loose powder foundation I use. I have occasional adult acne breakouts, which I've treated with store bought acne cream in the past, but since using this lavender oil I don't need to use acne medication anymore. I don't use any kind of chemicals on my face anymore. The lavender naturally calms my skin and makes it look much more healthy. I will use this as long as they make it!

I walked in on my lunch hour with the driest hands. No amount of lotion had been helping. One little tiny drop of this, and my hands felt brand new, instantly. They didn't feel greasy at all, and the lavendar sent is very light. I ended up leaving the store with 4 bottles for myself, my mom, and my sister. Simply the Best!

This is one terrific product. I cannot even count how much money I have spent on products that purport to heal dry skin and fail. This product is wonderful on dry skin. I too wish it was available in a larger size. The packaging is really attractive and does not have to be hidden when company is expected.

I purchased this product while vacationing in San Francisco at the market. I use it daily on my hands and feet. It has worked wonders with my dry skin and smells great too! I also use it nightly before bedtime. It is absolutely better than any hand cream or moisturizer on the market.

I'm using it every where, especially nice around the eyes and mouth. Great on hands and cuticles. Love the scent - I grow lavender in pots in my garden. Don't ever discontinue this product. I still use my "leftover" oil from tossing vegetables for roasting on my arms and where ever else needs oiling. The Florida sun is a killer. Thanks for your all your wonderful oils.

I purchased the Lavender Olive Oil and I just love it! I put it on my hands a couple of times during the day and just before I go to sleep. I just love the way it makes my hands feel -- the fragrance is so light and pleasant -- and I've also noticed that it softens my cuticles! I will definitely be making additional purchases. I am keeping one in my office.

The minute I saw your Lavender Olive Oil I knew it would be far more than a skin emollient or hair dressing in my household. My mother used a hot olive oil treatment on her hair for years, so I knew how useful it could be, and the fact that it was scented was a big plus, but I had bigger plans for your product.
I decided to try it in pastry, since I've often seen recipes for lavender shortbread in modern cookbooks. With my standard short bread recipe of butter, sugar, flour and ground almonds, I added 6 squirts of your lavender olive oil for a distinctive floral note. After I cut the shortbread into "fingers" I added a white chocolate squiggle down the middle of each shortbread cookie. When melting the chocolate, I added 6 more squirts of your lavender olive oil and it was so delicious I've decided to try it in a chocolate truffle recipe. The best part is that the cookies look much nicer that those I've seen with actual lavender buds in them.

After I cut the shortbread into "fingers" I added a white chocolate squiggle down the middle of each shortbread cookie. When melting the chocolate, I added 6 more squirts of your lavender olive oil and it was so delicious I've decided to try it in a chocolate truffle recipe. The best part is that the cookies look much nicer that those I've seen with actual lavender buds in them.
